History of Minecraft
A brief history of one of the most well known games out there
Minecraft is an open world game made from blocks with tree dimensions and it was officially released on the 18th of November 2011 during Minecon. Take a look, and see how it all started!
In Sweden, it's the year 2006...
A video showing how Minecraft in it's early stages, at the time named "Cave Game" looked like. As the text next to this video says, there was only grass and cobblestone, and nothing to do.

A guy with the name Markus Persson, programmed a game called "RubyDung", in 2008 "Cave Game" and later in 2009 "Minecraft". In Cave Game, there was no gamemode, only grass and cobblesetone.
In 2009, Markus Persson now with nickname "Notch" created a company named Mojang Studios. Minecraft was then officially released 18. November 2011 during Minecon.
And so, Minecraft turned out to be an amazing success!
During the time it was sold, it sold over 176 milions copies of game on all platforms and in the year 2019 it became the 2nd highest selling video game of all time, right behind Tetris.
In 2014, Microsoft bought the game for 2,3 billion dollars.
Minecraft is still updating, and the game modes for them too. There are also logic gates, electrical circuits, 3 gamemodes (survival, hardcore, and creative), advancements and more things to do.
